Here are five essential tips for winter babywearing to keep both you and your baby cozy and comfortable:

1. Layer Wisely: Dress your baby in multiple layers, which helps trap heat and allows for easy adjustments if you get too warm. For yourself, wear a coat or jacket with enough room for the baby carrier or consider a babywearing coat designed to cover both of you.

2. Choose Warm & Breathable Fabrics: Use clothing made from warm, breathable materials, like wool or fleece, that can insulate while preventing overheating. Avoid synthetic fabrics that may trap sweat.

3. Protect Extremities: Babies lose heat quickly from their head, hands, and feet. A warm hat, mittens, and thick socks or booties are a must.

4. Keep an Eye on Baby's Temperature: Periodically check your baby’s neck or back to ensure they’re not too hot or cold. Babies can quickly overheat with too many layers, so adjust as needed.

5. Wear a Babywearing Cover/Jacket or Poncho: Babywearing covers, jackets or ponchos are designed to fit over both you and your baby, adding an extra layer of warmth and shielding from wind, rain or snow. They’re convenient for layering without the bulk of a regular coat.
